About the Artist

David Pickering was born in the UK in 1941. He Studied sculpture at the University of Newcastle under Victor Pasmore and Richard Hamilton. He graduated in 1965 before taking a teaching position at Queen’s University Canada (1972-1996). David has exhibited in Canada, Europe and the UK. His most recent exhibitions include the Lonsdale Gallery in Toronto as well as being a selected guest artist at the Toronto International Art Fair. His works are included in many corporate and public collections, including Goodman and Goodman, Crown Life and Canada Council Art Bank. David is also the recipient of numerous Canada Council Project and Travel Grants. The experiences encountered during his frequent visits to Egypt, where he also maintains a studio, and inspires much of David’s work.
