"Dark Passage"

My fascination with the culture of ancient Egypt arises from a growing understanding of how its people were so connected to nature and the unshakable belief in the "afterlife". Ancient Egyptians had a cosmic view of life. In "Dark Passage" I was inspired by the ritual event of the passage of the deceased (represented by black pelts) traveling through a "false door" (brass mirror) towards the afterlife. The monumental wood column is an architectural component; a reminder of the physical world.
